The Genius of Play’s 2022 Initiatives Champion the Benefits of Play
December 22, 2022 | The Genius of Play continued to raise awareness of the value of play for kids of all ages in 2022, sharing new resources and expanding upon current programs for its audiences of parents, grandparents, caregivers, educators, and the media. From offering fresh play ideas for families and teachers to engaging with consumers at events and through social media, the initiative reached millions of consumers throughout the year.
“The Genius of Play connected with even more parents and educators this year with the launch of our Summer and STEAM Playbooks, in addition to continuing to grow our Play Ambassador network, media outreach, and digital campaigns,” said Anna Yudina, senior director of marketing initiatives at The Toy Association. “As we look ahead to 2023, we are excited to bolster these efforts and share new ways to emphasize the power of play to families across the U.S.”
Key highlights in 2022 included: new play resources, such as the Summer and STEAM Playbooks and new expert advice articles; a growing network of Play Ambassadors; exposure for member products with social media giveaways and influencer campaigns; and partnerships with organizations such as the National Afterschool Association, National Girls Collaborative Project, Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment, FAO Schwarz, and others.
The Genius of Play is a national movement spearheaded by The Toy Association to raise awareness about play’s critical role in child development and encourage more play in children’s lives. The Genius of Play’s website offers expert advice from play and child experts ranging from child psychologists to play community activists, play ideas, and play-inspired resources for teachers.
