Utilizing Toy Chest, Part II: How Spin Master is Scaling its Global Philanthropic Impact

July 9, 2026

The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) Toy Chest program is the only industry-wide giving initiative that distributes toy donations to comfort millions of children around the world. In this second article of a three-part series (read Part I here), learn how Spin Master, a leading global children’s entertainment company, is partnering with TTF’s Toy Chest to place more toys into children’s hands everywhere.

At Spin Master, purpose and philanthropy are deeply intertwined with the belief that every child should have the opportunity to grow, explore, and learn through play, regardless of their circumstances. To put that commitment into action, the company partners with the Toy Chest to expand the reach of its giving around the world.

While Spin Master’s commercial distribution network spans more than 100 countries, reaching the most vulnerable communities, such as disaster zones and refugee camps, often requires specialized humanitarian logistics that fall outside the scope of commercial operations. Toy Chest helps fill this gap by providing the infrastructure necessary to manage large-scale and cross-border donations. Through relationships with global aid organizations such as World Vision, TTF ensures donated toys reach qualified nonprofits, schools, children's hospitals, and hard-to-reach communities.

“Donating toys comes with complexities, and working with the Toy Chest has dramatically streamlined the logistics involved with international philanthropy,” said Tammy Smitham, vice president, communications & corporate citizenship at Spin Master. “Any company, regardless of size, can take advantage of the Toy Chest to turn their product donations into meaningful moments for children around the world.”

Spin Master’s product donations to the Toy Chest have positively impacted 180,000 children globally, including in countries like El Salvador, Guatemala, Lesotho, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, among others. In 2025, Kalungu Primary School, located in a rural area in Zambia where classrooms are often overcrowded with limited resources, received toys donated by Spin Master, through TTF and World Vision Zambia. The impact was immediate as the children stayed engaged and showed more interest in the classroom setting.

“The children are more motivated, and we can see their enthusiasm for learning grow,” said Lenganji Nachalwe, Kalungu Primary School teacher. “Your donations are making a real change in our lives and making the learning experience better.”

For companies looking to expand their global giving efforts, TTF is rallying the toy industry to give back in observance of the United Nations International Day of Play on June 11 in celebration of the 2026 theme, “Protect Play, Protect Childhood.” Companies of all sizes can donate product through the Toy Chest and help put toys into the hands of even more children around the world. To coordinate a product donation, submit a donation form.

Companies interested in expanding their global giving on a larger scale can reach out to The Toy Foundation team to explore customized partnerships, which could include employee volunteer activities, specified impact that aligns closely with corporate values, and calendarized or immediate-pick-up product donations.
