Toy Safety
CTA engages with Health Canada, the Canadian government and provincial governments to advocate for the interests of the Canadian toy industry and to provide critical information to help inform regulatory decisions.
In addition to reinforcing our message that playing with toys is important, safe, fun and beneficial, the CTA consistently calls for the alignment of Canadian and US Safety Standards, to reduce testing costs to manufacturers and increase selection for Canadian consumers while maintaining our focus on safety and improving childhood development through play.
Canadian toy safety standards are established, interpreted and enforced by Health Canada. In addition, some products may be subject to additional Provincial Regulations. CTA works to provide regulators with accurate data and information to inform the work done in establishing and reviewing national and provincial standards.
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to carefully review all labels and warnings and to visit PlaySafe, The Toy Association's premier site for toy safety information .
CTA and Toy Association members are encouraged to contact the CTA office directly to request additional information.
