Toy Association Celebrates 106 Years of Service

June 7, 2022 | Did you know that on June 9 The Toy Association is celebrating 106 years of serving the play community? Since 1916, the Association has remained steadfast in its commitment to unite the greater toy community, advocate for their interests, and engage and educate families everywhere to embrace all the benefits of play.

Since its inaugural meeting on Friday, June 9, 1916, in New York City to establish a trade association exclusively for toymakers (then known as the Toy Manufacturers of the U.S.A.), The Toy Association has expanded and evolved to support the needs of a rapidly changing toy industry. From a trade group representing under 50 American-based toy manufacturers, it has grown into a global association touching every aspect of the business of play, including toymakers, importers, licensors, toy retailers, inventors and designers, and more. Today, the Association’s members account for approximately 93% of the $32.6 billion U.S. toy market.

“The history of service and continual value of The Toy Association speaks to the hard work and wisdom of all those who have stepped forward to help shape the organization into an invaluable protector, promoter and resource for the entire toy and play community,” said Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “Our nation and world have seen more than a century of continual change and still, we remain dedicated to our members and all those who make the business of toys so wonderful. From the hundreds of industry professionals who volunteer on our many committees, to our board of directors, and devoted staff − it is the people of this community working together on behalf of the families and children we all exist to serve that makes the work of The Toy Association so unique, rewarding and vital.”

From global advocacy, to go-to-market events like Toy Fair in New York, 2023 Preview & 2022 Holiday Market, and Toy Fair Everywhere, to exclusive webinarsresearch reports, and more, The Toy Association continues to provide invaluable benefits to its members, big and small.
