The Toy Association™ Joins Port of LA Press Briefing to Share Holiday Toy Insights

December 13, 2023 | Kristin Morency Goldman, senior director of strategic communications at The Toy Association™, joined Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka’s monthly press conference today to share the latest consumer trends for toys and play, showcase popular toys for the holidays, and raise toy safety awareness. Watch the full press conference here.

Seroka kicked off the media event, which reached 1 million viewers in coast-to-coast coverage, by giving stakeholders a recap of the Port of Los Angeles’ successes, including how cargo volume and processing continue to increase compared to the previous year.

“Our year-end growth reflects the strength of the U.S. economy powered by the American consumer,” said Seroka. “Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales were strong, and the forecast for overall holiday sales is 3 to 4% above last year, another high mark.”

Seroka then introduced The Toy Association’s Morency Goldman to help add some holiday cheer to the usual cargo news briefing. Morency Goldman broke down The Toy Association’s 2023 Q4 Toy Trends: Cool to be a Kidult, Conscientious Consumers, Playing it Smart, and Pop Culture at Play. The trends were exemplified through product examples from member companies Educational Insights, Jazwares, Mattel, Starlux Games, Spin Master, and VTech as well as details on The Toy Association’s year-round product research and survey results, which gauged 1,000 U.S. parents’ attitudes about toys, play, and spending habits this holiday season.

This is among the latest media efforts by The Toy Association to highlight consumer toy shopping trends for the holidays, encourage safe toy shopping, and promote the must-have toys of the season.
